So I know all of you were anxiously waiting by your computer wondering what in the world I was going to do with the feedsacks. Why do they mean so much to me for goodness sake? They are just material! Well, let me show you why.
This is why. Isn't he so stinkin' cute?
OK. It's a little weird to say that about my dad. Yep. That's my dad back in 1958 in second grade. Remember the "key"

Feedsacks
As most of you know, I had a wonderful time going through the treasures in my Aunt's garage and bringing home a few...errrr...alot of them. Included in this collection was a stack of feedsacks that my grandmother had used for material to make clothes. I never knew the history of the feedsack until I did a little research on the internet. How interesting! Make the containers that feed comes in

The Dressing Table
Oh how I love this piece. I know my sweet Aunt is going to want this one back when she sees it. Remember when I picked her up what she looked like?
She was in very good condition, but I needed to paint her. I sanded, primed, and painted her one of my new paint colors from Olympic, Milk Paint. Added a little Valspar Antiquing Glaze, replaced her knobs, and cleaned up the mirror. Here she

Abandoned
He was abandoned...I found him by a dumpster of all places. Took him home, cleaned him, sanded him, put a new "coat" on him and now look! The second picture shows the new stain on the right. Although I absolutely hate to part with him, this will be my first piece to be "adopted."
This look was inspired by a wonderful store in North Carolina called Dutchman's. The top was

Copycat Ladder
So I'm pretty sure my neighbors think I'm officially crazy. "She's painting a ladder..." Well, technically yes, but distressing it, sanding it, crackling it, and repurposing it for the house is more like it.
I got this idea from a great blog called Buckets of Burlap. If you haven't been to see Becky's site, scroll down to the bottom to click on it. Her farmhouse is wonderful to take a "tour"

A very Chic blog...
I have to post to brag about a fellow blogger that I'm so impressed with. Great blog, great posts, great ideas. Meet Kate from Chic on a Shoestring Decorating. She has a passion for decorating and bargain shopping. She loves to show us how to make our house look like a million bucks without taking out a second mortgage. I LOVE her link up party "Flaunt it Friday." She's been doing it for a

3 Drawer Wash Stand
Remember my wonderful little wash stand that I found in my Aunt's garage? Well after MUCH love, paint stripper, sanding, repairing, and painting it's finished. I'm so pleased with it! It has so much character and hopefully it will be enjoyed for another hundred years.
Cleaning it was probably my least favorite part. It had...things...in it. First thing was to strip as much paint off as I

While the paint dries...
I've been working on the 3 drawer wash stand and I've almost got it finished. I just have to finish repairing the side and seal it. While the paint is drying, I'd like to show you how talented my little sister Katherine is. Maybe this will help YOU with ideas for a party! This is Lily's 1st birthday party. Did I mention I have super cute nieces? Anyway, all the little details is what made

You must have been a beautiful baby...
I interrupt this furniture restoration to bring you a super cute baby. My niece Poppy Olivia is precious. Love her name. Love her eyes. Love her personality. She loves her Uncle Michael. This is half a post to show-off my niece and half to show how much editing makes a difference in a photo. The photo on the left is SOOC. Straight out of the camera. When I first started taking pictures I

Oh Happy Day...Oh Happy Day
Don't you just love the smell of lead-based paint in the morning??This past weekend we were in our hometown for my niece's 1st birthday. (a post and pictures of that later!!) My aunt has had some "treasures" in her garage, collecting dust, that I've been eyeing. With our trailer in tow, we headed to the garage. American Pickers style. I don't know why old things "speak" to me. I get butterflies
